Sports | Crowd Favorite Warriors Take Game 1 of the NBA Finals 2018

Tipping off Game 1 in the Oracle Arena for the NBA finals, the Cavaliers gave the Golden State a good fight.  Scoring was even on both sides and it was even tied at the half 56-56.  This continued until the fourth quarter where the regulation ended at 107 all.

In the overtime play, the Warriors had 17 points whereas the Cleveland added 7.  After Tristan Thompson's tirade with Draymond Green in the final seconds, the Warriors won it 124-114.

The game was a surprise for most fans as the Cleveland almost won an upset in regulation.  George Hill missed his second free throw that would have been the point to take Game 1 for Cleveland.  Then in the ensuing play, JR Smith got the ball in the final seconds, unaware it was tied, tried to dribble away the time, much to the disgust of Lebron James who wanted the ball.  The Cavs had two chances to win it in regulation but didn't capitalized on that.

Now this game was a shocker for the Warriors as most of us fans thought this was the most lopsided NBA finals history in 16 years.  Even the gambling industry is betting against the Cavs, yet Lebron still defies the odds and carries his team to a victory, he almost did.

Amid expectations of a sweep by the Warriors, James still wants to show everyone he is the GOAT and this is the best time to show it.  Great effort in game 1, he had 51 points 8 rebounds and 8 assists.  His highest ever in a finals game.   Kevin Love added 21 points and JR Smith had 10.

Now it was a balanced scoring among the Warriors that finally won them over the Cavaliers in overtime in Game 1.  Stephen Curry had 29, Durant added 26, Klay 24, Draymond Green with 13 and Shaun Livingston in double figures with 10.
